Phrase: Add diploma image to GPS coordinates

Over on one of many Fb teams for editors, AS requested: “I’m trying to change GPS coordinates with out diploma symbols and with hyphens (ex., 44.997414, -72.611042) to be formatted with the code for diploma symbols and the hyphens transformed to en dashes (ex., 44.997414{dg}, –72.611042{dg}).”

My response:

You’ll doubtless have to do that in a few passes, as [another commenter] factors out. And be sure to flip off observe modifications. I’m not on a Mac, however that is what I’d use in Phrase for Home windows, doing a ‘use wildcards’ discover and change.

First, you’ll want to insert a level image into your doc prepared for copying.

Subsequent, determine the sample—what I see out of your examples is that every measurement has 6 decimal locations, so sort out that first; be sure that ‘Use wildcards’ is checked on the Discover and Change window:

  • Discover: ([0-9]{6})
  • Change: (NOTE: To get the diploma image, copy it out of your doc into the Change subject; there aren’t any areas in both string)

When you’ve completed that, sort out the hyphen. You say you want an en sprint, but when that’s a unfavorable quantity then you actually need a minus signal—once more, insert one into your doc prepared for copying within the Change:

  • Discover: (-)([0-9]{2}.)
  • Change: −2

Basic recommendation: Do NOT do Change All (particularly for the second) except you might be completely certain you received’t have an effect on the rest. Additionally, if you happen to’re writing the minutes and seconds to go together with latitude/longitude coordinates, use the prime and double prime symbols, not single and double quote marks.
